Mass Effect series shares Fallout series production team

For those who don’t know, there is a TV series based on the game Mass Effect in progress by Amazon. Although the details of the series are still scarce, we can be content with novelties about production.

It was officially revealed that the Mass Effect -based TV series shares the Fallout series production team, which won the world in 2024, while its second season is in production.

Regarding the team, Daniel Casey, writer of Fast and Furious 9, is the writer and executive producer. Scott Farris, senior executive at Amazon MGM Studios, is also on the team, bringing Fallout experience. Doug Jung, known as Star Trek Beyond, was announced as showrunner.

“As one of the company’s first contractors, Scott was a founding member of the original scripted dramas team and played a key role in launching prominent series such as The Man in the High Castle, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Jack Ryan,” says Farris’s page on LinkedIn.

“Throughout his career, Scott has helped to guide the development and production of Amazon’s most ambitious global series, more recently including Fallout, developed with Jonah Nolan, who has become the studio’s most successful commercial series and secured 16 emmy nominations in his first season.

“Some exciting projects that come out there include an adaptation of Carrie, by Stephen King, with Mike Flanagan; the long-awaited Fourth Wing, based on the Romantasy Best-Seller book series; and an adaptation of the Mass Effect billionaire video game franchise.”

The series was officially confirmed in November 2024. Daniel Casey mentioned that the project has been under development for almost two years, with a break due to the screenwriters strike.

“I’m working on a series of Mass Effect for Amazon. We have already received a green light to start the writers in early 2025. To do it the right way is, and has been, the main priority for almost two years (although we have paused for the strike last year),” Casey wrote in November last year.

“We have a great script for the pilot and a sketch of the series, and the team Amazon has set up (the same as Fallout, including the fantastic Scott) is amazing. Stay tuned for more news. This will occupy next year or two of my life. And it will be special.”

Although the details are unknown, the series can follow the Fallout model, creating an original story in the Mass Effect universe, rather than directly adapting the gaming plot.
