Despite the success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, who sold over 20 million copies, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, with over 5 million, the franchise seems to return anytime soon. According to new information, Crash Bandicoot 5 would have been canceled – and it seems that it could have been a promising project.

Images of the supposed Crash Bandicoot 5 leaked recently, revealing that the game would be called Crash Bandicoot 5: The Academy of Evil. The materials show scenarios and some of the villains, which would be part of the Cortex family.

Last year, Nicholas Kole, designer of characters in the series, had already commented on the cancellation. “Someday people will hear about Crash 5 that never happened – and this will leave hearts”he declared.

The cancellation raises questions about the future of the series. Following the closure of Crash Team Rumble and Toy for Bob’s independence, many fans wonders whether Activision intends to continue investing in the franchise.
