In 2023, Legendary Entertainment acquired the rights of the Street Fighter franchise to develop a new film adaptation. The production is still in progress, now revealed a new name to join its cast.

As reported by Portal Deadline, Indian actor Vidyut Jammwal, known for films such as Khuda Haafiz and Thuppakki, will play the classic Dhalsim fighter in the new adaptation.

According to Deadline, this will be Jammwal’s debut in a Hollywood production. The actor had previously stated that he wanted to carefully choose his first appearance in an American work, which means he is confident in this Street Fighter adaptation.

Capcom actively participates in the development of the feature, whose debut is scheduled for March 20, 2026. Initially, brothers Danny and Michael Philippou were linked to the direction, but left the project, being replaced by Sakurai.

Legendary has experience with video game adaptations, having produced titles as Detective Pikachu e Warcraft: The first meeting of two worlds. The studio is also responsible for large box office hits as there e Godzilla.
