The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation has already come to an end, but both consoles still follow most industry releases, raising a simple question: How long will this continue?

It seems that gradually, the studios are finally abandoning the old generation. For example, user Billbil-kun shared an article about NBA 2K26, revealing first-hand information about the game.

According to Billbil-kun, NBA 2K26 will be released on September 5 for PC and PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. The cost is $ 70 except the version for the first switch ($ 60).

“According to our information, NBA 2K26 will be released in a version specifically developed for the Nintendo Switch 2. Unlike NBA 2K25, which only offered compatibility with the new console, but was designed for the first switch, this new title will feature a fully optimized edition for Switch architecture 2.”

“Another big surprise is that a version dedicated to the first -generation Nintendo Switch (model 2017) is also planned. A decision that should reassure players who have not yet migrated to the new console. However, we find no version for PS4 or Xbox One, which indicates that NBA 2K25 must be the last title to support these platforms.”

If nothing changes until the official announcement, the franchise may indeed say goodbye to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation with the release of NBA 2K26. And NBA 2K25 will be the last game for these consoles.

Regarding the Nintendo console, NBA 2K26 will have two versions, one made especially for Switch 1 and the other for Switch 2, taking advantage of the new hardware.
