But Why Tho: “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 are another example of how to breathe new life into a classic without losing what made the originals so great. The online mode and significant improvements to Create-A-Park mode ensure a great replayability factor.”
Screen Rant: “What we have here is excellent, but I would love to see more. Whether it’s in the form of DLC, that much-talked-about THUG remaster, or even an entirely new game, only time will tell. For nearly thirty years, the THPS games have given me some of the best gaming memories I’ve ever had, and that certainly continues with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. Like my skater in the Rio competition, he deserves a gold medal.”
Game Informer: “The THPS franchise shaped my taste in music, my style, and more, all while providing an incredibly fun pastime on my PlayStation 2. A perfect remake of these games would do the same all these years later, or at the very least, remind me why they were such a big part of my teenage years. While Iron Galaxy has beautifully modernized the gameplay and graphics of these classics to fit perfectly in 2025, I wish they had done a better job of highlighting the influence these games had on their golden era.”
IGN: “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is, in many ways, a successful revival of the critically acclaimed 2001 and 2002 originals, and yet another welcome time capsule of all that was great about the golden age of early 2000s gaming, before microtransactions and battle passes ruined everything. Like 1 + 2, which released in 2020, THPS 3 + 4 proves once again that the series’ over-the-top skateboarding formula is utterly timeless and remains accessible to all skill levels: simple at first glance, but incredibly sophisticated beneath the surface for those with the courage (or muscle memory) to take their combos to colossal heights.”
“However, adapting THPS4 to the original trilogy’s classic two-minute timer will likely upset fans who consider the fourth game to be the best in the series, and discarding a whopping 80% of the original soundtracks from THPS3 and THPS4 is a surprisingly naive choice.”
