MindsEye, a game from developer Build a Rocket Boy, has reached fewer than 300,000 players after its rocky launch last week, according to an analysis by Ampere. The estimate takes into account all platforms and shows that the majority of the audience uses the PlayStation 5. On PC, the version available via Steam has only 35,000 players.
The low number is notable, especially in a month with many releases, such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Mario Kart World. These titles generated anticipation, but MindsEye struggled to stand out. Despite the curiosity of many players, the launch failure is likely due to the many glitches reported by players .

MindsEye has become a huge failure
According to the data released , around 150,000 players have accessed MindsEye on PS5. Xbox Series consoles have around 65,000 players. The rest are concentrated on PC, a platform where the game features a content creation tool called Build.MindsEye, aimed at users creating experiences within the game itself.
According to Ampere, the problems began even before the launch, with little publicity and delay in information about the game. In addition, there was also an accusation by one of the media executives that she had been bought to give negative reviews. After the launch, criticisms related to technical performance, bugs and gameplay emerged, with the right to refunds from Sony .
Future of the game is uncertain
The studio has released updates to fix bugs, but reports indicate that this has not been enough to reverse the negative reception. As a result, the company has initiated a layoff process , which could affect more than 100 employees. These internal changes put the project’s continuity plans at risk.

That’s because Build a Rocket Boy had promised free updates. In addition, it also revealed plans to introduce an open-world multiplayer mode and even a possible sequel to MindsEye. However, current performance could delay or even cancel these deliveries.
Despite the lower-than-expected numbers, the developer has yet to release an official statement about the game’s future. So far, the company has not revealed any formal sales figures or updates on the schedule. As such, the only information available is regarding layoffs at the studio.
