Techland has announced “Summer of Dying Light,” a celebration of the franchise in preparation for Dying Light: The Beast, which launches on August 22 and is now available for pre-order.
With that, both Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human receive new free updates today.
Dying Light: Retouched Update
A decade after its original release, the critically acclaimed Dying Light receives a new update that breathes new life into Harran. Dying Light: Retouched Update enhances the game’s visuals and sound effects, ensuring a more immersive and fun experience for new players and veterans alike.
The main new features of Dying Light: Retouched Update are:
Improved graphics and performance: Enjoy improved graphic textures and new 8K “Ultra” quality shadows, as well as visual improvements to surfaces and water and an extended LOD range. The studio also emphasizes that this is not a simple remaster.
Enhanced Audio Experience: Remastered soundtrack by original franchise composer Paweł Błaszczak, who meticulously recreated the retro tape sound effects by re-recording the original tape. Expect new music and ambient effects throughout the game, as well as improved reaction audio that provides feedback during combat.
Dying Light: Retouched Update is a free update now available for owners of Dying Light on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The amount of changes may vary by platform.

In the case of the Switch, unfortunately the update is not available and there is also no forecast for the game to gain a native version for Switch 2 (via IGN ), where the new features of the update would supposedly have the possibility of being implemented.
More details about the Retouched Update can be read on the developers’ blog , where franchise director Tymon Smektała talks to the title’s technical director Grzegorz Świstowski and 3D artist Krzysztof Knefel.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human Update Brings New Content to Players
Techland is also releasing a summer update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, continuing the team’s ongoing support for the title.
“We promised at least five years of support for Dying Light 2, and our fans can’t wait to see it,” said Tymon Smektała, Director of the Dying Light franchise. “This summer, we’re going all out to bring joy to our community. We’re celebrating our talented modding community with UGC Fest, as well as delivering a ton of additional content with the Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden crossover.”
Dying Light Pack 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden

The Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden Pack offers two new side quests and fun free items, including the Joker Charm, which is ever-changing, similar to Balatro’s own essence of bad luck and unpredictability. Each time you equip it, a test of your own luck occurs, with its effects activating randomly, bringing Balatro’s signature excitement to Villedor.
To begin the new quests, simply find the mysterious posters in the Bazaar and the Fish Eye. Solve fiendish puzzles that will test your knowledge of Villedor and unlock Aiden’s Friend Pack, which includes:
Jimbo’s Outfit: No messing around with this outfit, you’ve got a job to do: kill some zombies!
Ceremonial Dagger: No longer just a Joker. Grab the dagger and prove you’re not bluffing! Increase your multiplier by defeating different types of enemies, performing finishers, and destroying Joker Charms.
Joker Charm: Craft a charm and you’ll receive a random game effect. Just like in Balatro, some will be more useful than others.
Flying Blind Paraglider: You might lose a few chips, but every poker player needs to have a plan to escape when the odds don’t look good.
UGC Fest: Summer in Villedor

Starting today, Dying Light 2: Stay Human’s UGC Fest is a four-week celebration celebrating the creativity and dedication of the community. Take on new hunts that immerse you in the best community-created content and discover the incredible talent of our players, while earning some cool rewards for completing them.
UGC Fest highlights include:
Community-Created Maps: Each week, three new community maps are highlighted, inviting players to explore and experience the creativity of the talented Dying Light community.
New Visual Mods: Experience a variety of visual mods, including weapon skins created as part of the recent Mod Contest, as well as new maps created specifically for this event.
In addition to additional content and celebrating the community, Dying Light 2’s summer update also introduces a number of improvements to the title, including changes to Co-op, Tower Raid, and technical bug fixes. A full list of all changes can be found in the patch notes .
