In an interview with The Game Business, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak commented on the possibility of special missions along the lines of Hitman: World of Assassination in 007: First Light .
“We obviously have a lot of experience with World of Assassination and a lot of experience in how to extend the single-player experience by offering free content that players want to enjoy,” Abrak said. “The first goal with 007 First Light is to create the best and most impactful journey possible for players. Again, without giving too much away, it’s expected that we’ll apply some of our learnings from World of Assassination to Bond.”
“It gives us more challenges to create ,” Abrak added. “In Hitman, you have these live challenges. And in addition to the things we can do in Hitman, we can do more action-packed things and more kinetic challenges in Bond. It’s either one or the other ,” Lacaille said, referring to the action-packed gameplay and systemic gameplay in the Hitman style.
“IOI has a history, and that lends itself very well to intellectual property, so we’re leaning on that, of course. But that wouldn’t tell the whole story of who Bond is. We’re leaning very much on what IOI does best, but we’ve had to create a lot of new things that IOI has had to learn and iterate on to really bring the full Bond experience ,” Lacaille continued. “For example, directing, we’ve never done that before, and we’re doing it now.”
All about 007
This version will feature the youngest James Bond in the entire saga, at just 26 years old. He will be played by Patrick Gibson , who played the young Dexter in the Dexter: Original Sin series . The game will begin with the character still in the army, until he enters the agency’s training program.
