It’s true that video games are an increasingly expensive hobby, with launch titles arriving with prices that can be equivalent to 1/4 of minimum wage. According to the IBGEat least 29.6% of the Brazilian population lived, by 2022, with an income of up to half a minimum wage per capita — that is, around 63.8 million people receiving up to R$606 per month.

It’s a pretty scary scenario and one that helps explain, in particular, the appeal of free games on digital platforms in Brazil and other initiatives focused on democratizing access to entertainment and culture.

With that in mind, the Voxel brings, in the following lines, a list of five free games to redeem and play over the weekend. Check it out:

Witch It

In a Halloween mood, the Epic Games Store is offering Witch It free to users this week. The premise is very simple: there is a team of witches, who must disguise themselves as objects in the scene and hide; and another for hunters, who have an arsenal of skills at their disposal to find them. It’s a really fun game of hide-and-seek to pass the time.

It is possible to explore several different game modes, including a more fast-paced one in which discovered witches must join the hunters’ team and even one in which special abilities are prohibited. There are over 15 official maps to explore, plus community mod support to extend the game’s lifespan.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

Also available for free on the Epic Games Store, Ghostwire: Tokyo was one of the last games produced by Tango Gameworks, also responsible for The Evil Within e Hi-Fi Rushbefore its closure by Microsoft and subsequent acquisition by Krafton, of PUBG. It is a first-person action and shooter game set in a distorted and supernatural version of the Japanese capital.

In the story, the entire population of Tokyo suddenly disappeared and the only survivor was Akito, who ended up possessed by a spirit that prevented the worst from happening. The objective is to uncover the intentions of those who caused this supernatural event and save your own family – all while learning spells and other stylish techniques that you can use with your own hands.

CRIME

CRIME is a new competitive-focused first-person shooter that arrived for free on Steam this week. He finds inspiration in classics like Quake e Unreal Tournamentespecially given its fast pace of action and lean scenarios that are designed for 1v1 action.

In short, this is a recommended game if you are looking for a more frantic experience that rewards each player’s individual skills. Matches take place in rounds, each on a different map, and there is even support for nearby voice chat.

Pokémon TCG Pocket

Card and card enthusiasts Pokémon are well served this week with the launch of Pokémon TCG Pocketa more simplified version of the popular card game from Creatures Inc. and with a strong emphasis on collecting. Players are entitled to open two packages per day at no cost – the only restriction is having to wait twelve hours.

By delivering a simpler format, the Pokémon TCG Pocket It is ideal for people who have never had contact with the original game. Battles, for example, take place with decks of up to twenty cards, as opposed to sixty in the traditional game. Another interesting feature is that the most special cards have beautiful animations that delve into the illustrations and expand on them.

Return of the Phantom

Available for free for a limited time, Return of the Phantom It’s a classic of the genre point and click (point and click) that puts players in the role of Inspector Raoul Montand, who must unravel the mysteries of the Phantom of the Opera. The story is written by Raymond Benson, a novelist who was also responsible for writing James Bond.

If you like more atmospheric games with a lot of exploration, Return of the Phantom may be to your liking. It is worth remembering that it will be available for free download until next Sunday, November 3rd.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed is an excellent recommendation for you to have fun with your friends. Inspired by the film franchise of the same name, the game is an asymmetrical multiplayer in which a group of four players control the hunters, while a fifth takes on the role of a ghost that must haunt the environment.

In practice, the game drinks a lot from the source of successes such as Dead By Daylight and is full of references that fans of the film directed by Ivan Reitman will identify. It is worth remembering that the game is only available on the subscription service until next Monday, November 4th.
