Before Gamescom’s Opening Night Live last Tuesday (20), several rumors took over the networks stating that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would be released in December for Xbox Series X|S and PC — with a PS5 version available in the first half of 2025. Well, the hammer was dropped during the presentation of the German event and Microsoft has actually confirmed that the timed exclusive will be coming to the competing console.

Bom, Despite having previously said that Xbox exclusives would never be released on PlayStation, it seems that Phil Spencer has changed his mind. The executive has previously stated that the Japanese giant wants to “grow at the expense of Xbox”, but now said in an interview at Gamescom that this is “a strategy that works for” Microsoft.

“We said we would learn [lançando quatro jogos no ano passado]. We said we would watch. What I see when I look is that our franchises are getting stronger, our Xbox players are as high this year as they’ve ever been“, Spencer explained in the interview.

“We run a business. That’s definitely true within Microsoft. The bar is set high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. People are looking for ways to grow. The industry is changing“, continued the executive.

“I think we as fans, as gamers, just have to anticipate that there will be more changes in how some of the traditional ways of building and distributing games, that’s going to change. The end result has to be better games that more people can play,” Spencer concludes.

Microsoft has already released four Xbox exclusives on PlayStation and Switch this year

It’s worth remembering that Xbox games coming to rival consoles is nothing new. After a wave of speculation and rumors, Microsoft confirmed in February of this year that it would release some of the main names in its catalog on the PS5 and Switch throughout 2024. All of the names below are already available on both the PS Store and the Nintendo eShop:

  • Hi-Fi Rush
  • Pentiment
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Grounded

Hi-Fi Rush e Sea of Thievesfor example, have already topped the charts among the most downloaded titles on the PlayStation Store — which certainly proves the point that it’s “a strategy that works for” Microsoft.
