Hades 2 receives giant gameplay and free trial! See how to participate

While Silksong does not give the air of grace, Hades 2 is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated indies of recent times. Luckily for eager fans, Supergiant Games finally revealed more details about the sequel last Wednesday (17) — as well as a free technical test on Steam.

And it was no small feat, no. Greg Kasavin and Amir Rao, creative director and director of Supergiant Games, respectively, presented a video with nothing less than three hours of gameplay Hades 2 — where they played the first area and introduced new weapons, enemies and several other resources. This time, players take on the role of Melinoë, princess of the Underworld and daughter of Hades, who embarks on a journey to rescue her father from Chronos, the Titan of Time. Given her training as a witch, her play style is a little different from her brother, Zagreus — though it’s still very familiar.

The protagonist has been trained since she was a child by none other than Hecate herself, the goddess of magic. Melinoë’s movements and attacks maintain the roguelike nature, in which players quickly sneak through an area with an isometric view while using every available skill to defeat enemies.

There are also a variety of weapons and narrative styles characteristic of Supergiant Games, but with some interesting additions to the package. Now, Hades 2 offers resource gathering, simple crafting systems, and even trading.

Additionally, the mirror that allowed Zagreus to change his abilities in the first game no longer exists. Instead, Melinoë can use a tarot-like system of Arcane Cards to improve her moves — which suits her much better, given that she’s a witch.
