It’s true that video games are an increasingly expensive hobby, with launch titles arriving with prices that can be equivalent to 1/4 of minimum wage. According to the IBGEat least 29.6% of the Brazilian population lived, by 2022, with an income of up to half a minimum wage per capita — that is, around 63.8 million people receiving up to R$606 per month.
It’s a pretty scary scenario and one that helps explain, in particular, the appeal of free games on digital platforms in Brazil and other initiatives focused on democratizing access to entertainment and culture.
With that in mind, the Voxel brings, in the following lines, a list of five free games to redeem and play over the weekend. Check it out:
TOEM
TOEM is a hand-drawn adventure game, with completely black and white visuals, in which players must use a camera to solve puzzles, interact with NPCs and uncover mysteries. The mechanics reward exploration and especially a keen eye for good photographs.
The Epic Games Store has already brought this game to its users on another occasion, but now it is once again offering it as part of its recurring list of weekly free games. So, even if you don’t have a gaming PC, it’s worth creating an account and redeeming it for when you can play and have fun.
The Last Stand: Aftermath
In a similar way, The Last Stand: Aftermath is available for free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time, until September 26th. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, The Last Stand: Aftermath is a sequence of The Last Stand: Union City and is described as a roguelite shooting and action.
The premise is simple: the player is infected by a zombie virus and needs to find hope for the other survivors while there is still time left. Progress is not lost with the character’s inevitable death, as the next survivor can take advantage of their supplies and upgrades to advance the journey.
Sonic Rumble
Are you looking forward to the premiere of the film? Sonic 3 or by the arrival of Sonic X Shadow Generations? Then Sonic Rumble It can be a fun game to pass the time. The launch for cell phones seeks inspiration from Fall Guys and brings up to 32 players in a fight for survival, with several fun courses and minigames.
In addition to having fun in a variety of activities, it is possible to customize notable characters such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. Its casual nature also allows you to participate in quick and uncompromising matches, so it’s worth at least trying it out if you’ve already had good experiences in games like Fall Guys or Stumble Guys.
Animal Shelter 2
If you like business simulators like Supermarket Simulator, Animal Shelter 2 is a game that combines management mechanics with cute animals. In addition to managing employees and taking care of the environment for the animals’ well-being, it is necessary to ensure a good impression for potential adopters.
Available on the Steam platform, Animal Shelter 2 allows free redemption of the Prologue version, which provides a preview of the gameplay. The full version, in turn, is scheduled for release sometime in 2024, with no set date yet.
eFootball
Formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer, eFootball has faced a very negative reception in 2021. However, the new season of content for Konami’s football game is attracting attention for its gameplay changes, which was one of the main points of criticism of the original release.
The game is available for free on PC, consoles and even cell phones. So, if you’re thirsty for an accessible football game that takes a step away from the protagonism of EA Sports FCwhich is the old FIFAit’s worth at least trying.
