Originally founded in 1996, over the years EVO has become one of the most prestigious fighting game events in the world. The 2024 edition took place last weekend and broke the show’s record by bringing together more than 10,000 competitors from around the world to face off in games such as Mortal Kombat 1, Street Fighter 6 e Tekken 8.

Given the loyal audience it has gained throughout its history so far, why not turn the event into a showcase for announcements as well, right? Well, EVO 2024 had countless major reveals for all fighting game fans.

SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos has been released for modern platforms

The legendary crossover between SNK and Capcom in 2003 resulted in a fighting game packed with iconic characters from both industry giants. The good news here, however, is that a new version of SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos was announced and already released this Monday (22) for PS4, Nintendo Switch, Steam and GOG.

The game features 36 characters from franchises such as Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, Darkstalkers, Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug, Mega Man and much more. It’s truly a fighting game gem — now at its best on modern platforms.

Samurai Jack will be a playable character in MultiVersus

After the arrival of Agent Smith, Matrixto the MultiVersusit has now been announced on stage at EVO 2024 that Samurai Jack and the ghost Beetlejuice will soon be joining the roster of Warner Bros.’ brawler.

Samurai Jack, iconic Cartoon Network character, will start the second season of MultiVersus: Back in Time and will join the cast this Tuesday (23). Later, towards the end of the season, the ghost Beetlejuice will also enter the scene – a date has not yet been specified, but this should happen close to the premiere of the new film in the franchise The ghosts have fun.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ Lucy Joins Guilty Gear Strive Cast

Acclaimed by both critics and audiences, the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was one of the big boosts CD Projekt needed to redeem the controversial futuristic RPG. Now, an unusual partnership has been announced on stage at EVO 2024: Lucy, the protagonist of the animation, will be a playable character in Guilty Gear Strive.

Using Monowires and the Unity pistol as weapons, Lucyna Kushinada, or Lucy, is one of the protagonists of the anime. It will be released in Guilty Gear Strive only in 2025 and unfortunately no glimpse of the character was revealed on this occasion.

Lucy will be part of the fourth Season Pass content, along with the return of other characters from the franchise Guilty Gear — such as Dizzy (who is now Queen Dizzy), Unika, and Venom. Additionally, the previously announced 3v3 mode will also have an open beta between July 25 and 29, which will be free for all platforms — in addition to having the entire playable cast, including the DLCs.

Terry Bogard is on fire in Street Fighter 6

After starting Year 2 with Mr. Bison in Street Fighter 6Capcom took fighting game fans by surprise when it recently revealed that Terry Bogard, iconic fighter SNK e The King of Fighterswill join the game’s roster. His first gameplay glimpse was even revealed at EVO 2024.

His moves combine styles like boxing, kickboxing and good old street fighting for some impact techniques. Of course, one of his legendary moves, the Burn Knuckle, is also seen in the trailer — along with his classic victory pose. The premiere is scheduled for the Brazilian spring, between September and December.

Two more DLC characters will be released after Terry Bogard, including fellow Fatal FuryMai Shiranui, and Elena from Street Fighter 3: New Generation.

Heihachi is back in Tekken 8

Killed by his own son in a volcano in the events of Tekken 7 and with the coffin lids closed by the series director himself, Katsuhiro Harada, Heihachi Mishima will be back for more insane fights in Tekken 8.

The announcement was made by Bandai on stage at EVO 2024 with a dramatic trailer, which also confirms the character’s arrival to the game’s roster at the end of the year — still without a specified date.
