Re:creation signs with Commonwealth to bring YouTube’s LARVA plush to UK

Re:creation has signed an exclusive deal to distribute a range of plush toys in the UK based on YouTube animation, LARVA.

The popular property, owned by Korea-based TUBAn Co., Ltd, currently has almost four million YouTube subscribers and more than 260 episodes. It features a variety of CGI animated characters.

The first three LARVA series have been streaming on Netflix as well as the recently launched LARVA Island. Exclusively available on Netflix, LARVA Island debuted in October and features vignettes about the misadventures of two worms and a host of new characters living on an abandoned island.

A feature length movie is also in development for a 2019 release.

Now airing in over 150 countries the show’s YouTube viewership figures have exploded with growth in 2018, exceeding 50 million with September alone seeing the property draw an audience of over six million.

Re:creation will work with LARVA’s multi-territory licensing partner for Plush Toys, Novelties and Plastic Collectibles, Commonwealth Toys, to launch a series of plush character toys in the UK.

Adrian Mayes, Re:creation Sales Director, said: “LARVA’s following is incredibly impressive and it’s clear that fans simply can’t get enough of the adventures of Red and Yellow.

"With new series LARVA Island now airing on Netflix and a theatrical release expected next year, the good news for this property just keeps coming.

“The plush collection captures the unique personalities within the show perfectly and lives up to the strength of the LARVA brand. We’re delighted to be on board with the team at Commonwealth Toys to introduce this exciting line to the UK audience.”

Alec Kessler, EVP of Commonwealth Toy & Novelty, added: “We are thrilled to have a company like Re:creation recognise the potential of our LARVA toy line.

"This partnership will allow Commonwealth Toy to leverage the strength of Re:creation’s distribution network in their territory.”
