Osborne’s Sports and Toys named Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month

Northamptonshire independent toy store Osborne’s Sports and Toys Shop has been named the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month.

A family run toyshop now in its third generation, Osborne’s has taken pride of place along the Rushden High Street for nearly 60 years, boasting a wide range of traditional toys and expert advice.

Run by Jim Osborne, 83, alongside his wife Pamela and son William, the store offers a collection of brands, and lays claim to being one of the first independent stores in the UK to sell LEGO.

The store has now been named the Good Toy Guide’s retailer of the Month for October, championed by the team for its dedication to customer service and in store theatre.

“This traditional toy shop embodies all that is magical about children’s play,” said Dr. Amanda Gummer of Fundamentally Children.

“It’s a real treasure trove and Jim and the team know more about toys than most, so they are a great resource for their customers.”

Osborne’s Sports and Toys Shop hosts an annual Christmas club, allowing customers to put toys aside and pay for them in installments.

“We are really pleased with being named the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month,” said storeowner Jim Osborne.

“We won the Golden Teddy a few years ago and were on The One Show a few weeks ago.

“We have been here for nearly 60 years, and we sell all kinds of toys, ranging across the board, but as an independent, we are big on traditional toys.”
